Teoteo (Yr 0/1)
A big welcome to the Teoteo Learning Space. Our teaching team consists of Emma Howes, Serena Moore and Clarissa Hurihanganui. In addition, Colleen Bond and Jo Lawrence are our wonderful Learning Support Staff. We feel it is a privilege to work alongside tamariki as they enter school and we are passionate about the education and wellbeing of each of our ākonga. In Teoteo our philosophy is to promote the optimal environment for your child’s Three Kete (Knowledge, Character and Relationships) to flourish.
Collaboration
Within Teoteo (and the wider school), we strongly believe in collaboration and the many benefits for ākonga. This goes beyond Kaiako working alongside each other, it is about collaboration between ākonga, whānau and Kaiako to grow our Three Kete. One of the systems we use to enhance this collaboration is through the ‘Seesaw Learning Journal App’. This provides the opportunity to be connected with your child and to engage with how they are adding to their Three Kete within Teoteo.
Learning Experiences
We structure the learning within Teoteo in a variety of ways in fluid mixed ability and ability based groupings. These groupings also vary in size from all ākonga being together (e.g. going over the daily programme and waiata), two groups (e.g. Play-Based Learning, Storytelling and Circle Time), small groups (e.g. Maths, Structured Literacy and PMP) and one to one teaching. Within our programme, Storytelling is one of our drivers which enables us to provide learning experiences within the NZ Curriculum in a cohesive and engaging way. All children are provided with rich authentic opportunities to add to their Three Kete and utilise their ‘Kete Strengths’ through a variety of contexts. Our aim is that your child is engaged in their learning and can apply their skills and knowledge in everyday life in order to flourish and be the best they can be!
