Ngahere (Yrs 3/4)
Ngahere is where learning takes flight, bridging junior and middle school. We grow confident, curious learners through structured routines, clear teaching, and a balance of supported and independent practice, grounded in the New Zealand Curriculum and the science of learning.
Knowledge - Character - Relationships
Knowledge – Mātauranga
We explicitly teach reading, writing, and maths so every child builds real understanding. Structured Literacy, alongside The Learner First and Maths No Problem, supports strong foundations through varied, repeated learning experiences.
Character – Āhuatanga
We foster a growth mindset where challenges and mistakes are part of learning. Children identify strengths, set goals, and build independence while celebrating diverse ways of learning.
Relationships – Whanaungatanga
Connection is key. Mixed groups help children learn from one another, building empathy and belonging. Shared events and experiences strengthen relationships and support confident, engaged learners.
Ko te Ngahere, ko tātou.
The tūī and the kererū don’t fly the same path — yet both carry the seeds of the forest forward. The pīwakawaka darts where the kiwi moves slowly and surely. The wētā works quietly beneath the leaves while the kākā calls from the canopy above. Different speeds, different voices, different ways of moving through the world. Yet pull one from the ngahere, and the whole forest feels it. This is our whānau — every learner is a different creature, none more important than another, all of us bound together in one living, breathing place.
Tūhono ana, tipu ana, ora ana. Connected, growing, thriving.
